This week new cameras are being installed with views of the roadway entrances to campus. Like other cameras on campus, these will be used by the Office of Public Safety and Emergency Management to help ensure the safety of our students, faculty, staff, and guests. The presence of cameras provides crime deterrence value, and footage from these cameras will be accessed when needed to support investigations. This planned installation is part of our ongoing efforts to enhance the safety and security of our campus community.
To ensure that they do not impinge on privacy, the cameras are being strategically placed at the four road entrances with views of public areas only. And, staying consistent with nearly all other cameras on campus, video from them will be viewable only by staff within the Office of Public Safety and Emergency Management and select staff in IT who support them.
