Tomorrow - 2019 Nobel Laureate’s Lecture - Lithium Batteries, Energy Storage and Global Climate Change

In 2019, Professor Stanley Whittingham (SUNY Distinguished Professor, Director of Northeast Center for Chemical Energy Storage at Binghamton, Binghamton University) received a Nobel Prize in Chem In 2019, Professor Stanley Whittingham (SUNY Distinguished Professor, Director of Northeast Center for Chemical Energy Storage at Binghamton, Binghamton University) received a Nobel Prize in Chemistry for the development of lithium-ion batteries.  He will present a general audience lecture - Lithium Batteries, Energy Storage and Global Climate Change - at Ithaca College on Saturday, October 21 from 10:30 am (Textor 102).  Refreshments are available from 10 am.

Announcement by the Nobel Committee:

“This lightweight, rechargeable, and powerful battery is now used in everything from mobile phones, laptops, electric vehicles, and medical devices such as pacemakers and defibrillators. It can also store significant amounts of energy from solar and wind power, making possible a fossil fuel–free society.”
