The Office of Public Safety and Emergency Management, in partnership with the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics, is set to implement a new security screening system for Saturday’s home football game against Buffalo State, set to kick off at 1:00 p.m. at Bertino Field at Butterfield Stadium. The entrance to the stadium will be equipped with a state-of-the-art OPENGATE ® Weapons Detection System, which will add a new layer of increased security for the campus community.
The OPENGATE ® system has become an industry leader in providing portable and highly effective security systems to high-traffic environments including subway and railway stations, airport and port terminal entrances, entertainment venues, stadiums, theatres, arenas, and theme parks. The system is designed to provide automatic screening of people in transit, including carried personal belongings. The system allows for high transit flow and mostly eliminates the need for meticulous investigation of personal bags and additional screening of non-threatening items.
Fans attending this Saturday’s football clash, along with the November 11 Cortaca Jug game, will pass through the OPENGATE ® system, which consists of two independent self-powered pillars equipped with the electronic analysis system, at the entrance to the stadium.
