Please join us in Clark Lounge on Tuesday, October 31 during the common hour (12:10-1:05) for a discussion on Middle East History & Current Events led by David Makovsky, the Ziegler Distinguished Fellow at The Washington Institute and director of the Koret Project on Arab-Israel Relations. He is formerly of The Office of the U.S. Secretary of State, where he served as a senior advisor to the Special Envoy for Israeli-Palestinian Negotiations. As a journalist, he extensively covered the peace process between Israel and the Palestinians and is the author of numerous books and monographs, including Making Peace with the PLO: The Rabin Government’s Road to the Oslo Accord, Engagement through Disengagement: Gaza and the Potential for Renewed Israeli-Palestinian Peacemaking, and Myths, Illusions, & Peace: Finding a New Direction for America in the Middle East. He is an adjunct professor at Johns Hopkins University’s Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies in the Middle Eastern studies program.
