Textbook Support:
In collaboration with The Ithaca College Library, first-generation students who still need textbook support for this semester can complete this form. Additionally, information for students who will need textbook support for the spring 2024 semester will become available at the completion of class registration. Bracelet-Making Table:
In preparation for First Gen Week, The First Generation Center will be hosting a bracelet-making event at the CC North Foyer on Thursday, November 2, from 1-4 p.m.
Save the Date: 2nd Annual First Gen Week: Monday, November 6- Friday, November 10, 2023
Ithaca Firsts Generation Center is hosting our 2nd Annual First Gen Week! This year’s theme is: “Celebrate. Validate. Connection.” It is our hope that this week provides the campus community the opportunity to celebrate our first-generation community, validate everyone’s experiences within the first-generation community, and build connections for everyone.
Our week will be starting with a Birthday Party/Open House to celebrate five years of the Ithaca Firsts Generation Center at Ithaca College. Guests are welcome to come by the Center between 12- 3pm, Egbert Hall, 339 Suite (next to the BIPOC Unity Center). There will be food and raffles.
On Tuesday, November 7 from noon- 1 p.m., Ithaca Firsts Generation Center is collaborating with The Center of Career Exploration & Development to host The Career Journey for the First Gen College Student panel discussion at Muller 101. Listen to a panel of IC faculty and staff members who are themselves first-generation college graduates, to learn how to avoid pitfalls and access resources that you didn't even know you needed. Tuesday evening, from 5-6 pm, in the Ithaca Falls Room, Campus Center, The Ithaca Firsts Generation Center will be collaborating with The BIOPOC Unity Center to host Café con la Directora with guest speaker, Kakwireiosta Hall. Please RSVP here Food will be provided.
On Wednesday, November 8 from 11 a.m.- 2 p.m., The Ithaca Firsts Generation Center will be hosting our annual First-Generation Celebration Day Luncheon. Join the first-generation community as we celebrate the successes of being first-gen at IC! There will be prizes and giveaways!
On Thursday, November 9, from 6-7 p.m. at Clark Lounge, the Epsilon Sigma Chapter of Alpha, Alpha, Alpha, Honor Society will be hosting our Fall Induction Ceremony. This invitation-only induction will be for students who have earned a 3.2-grade point average or better and at least 30 or more credit hours.
We will conclude the week with an Ice Cream Social sponsored by the Epsilon SIgnma Chapter of Alpha, Alpha, Alpha Honor Society. This will be an invitation-only opportunity for newly inducted members to meet current members and learn about upcoming programming.
