Ithaca College has become aware that on Sunday, Oct. 29, antisemitic messages threatening violence to Jewish members of the Cornell University community were posted online. Police are investigating these threats. You can read the Cornell statement here.
At this time there have been no known threats made to anyone affiliated with Ithaca College. The Office of Public Safety, however, has increased patrolling on campus and is in regular contact with Cornell Police regarding the situation.
To report any threats, call 911 or the Office of Public Safety at 607-274-3333, or use a campus blue-light phone.
Members of the campus community who have not already done so are also encouraged to download and install the Rave Guardian app on their mobile device. The app can both receive IC Alert messages and be used to contact Public Safety and local 911 along with providing access to other safety and wellness contacts, information, and resources.
Students are reminded to always be aware of their surroundings, and that walking with a friend or group of friends, particularly at night, is good practice whether you are on or off campus.
Safety escorts are a service provided to members of the campus community who may feel unsafe walking alone, especially during late hours or in dimly lit areas. Safety escorts are available from 9:00 p.m. until 1:00 a.m. by SASP or any other time of the day or night by a patrol or security officer.
To request a safety escort, call Public Safety at 607-274-3333.
Support services for students are available through the Ithaca College Center for Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) by calling 607-274-3136. Faculty and staff can access the counseling services of the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) by calling 1-800-327-2255.
