Joan Linder is known for finding inspiration from her immediate surroundings, often in quotidian subjects. Her conceptual and observational works on paper have been included in national and international exhibitions at venues such as Museum of Fine Ars Boston, The Buffalo AKG Museum and the Davis Museum. Her work has been written about in Art News, Art in America, the New York Times and Hyperallergic among others. She has created permanent public art commissions for Metropolitan Transit Authority, and PS97 through Public Art for Public Schools in NYC and the University at Buffalo SUNY. She has received numerous grants and fellowships from organizations such as the Pollock Krasner Foundation, Yaddo and MacDowell.
Linder is a Professor of Art at the University at Buffalo, SUNY and is represented by Cristin Tierney Galley in NYC.
