Dear Ithaca College Students,
On Saturday, November 11, Ithaca College will host our historic rivals SUNY Cortland in the 2023 installment of the Cortaca Jug football game. The rich history of the Cortaca Jug dates back to 1959 and we are so excited that the game is set to make its much-anticipated return to our campus for the first time since 2017.
As we countdown the final hours to this much anticipated event, I encourage all of our students to immerse themselves in the excitement of this weekend, but remember to please do so responsibly and respectfully.
Expected Behavior
Please be mindful of the following points as you attend the game and navigate campus this upcoming weekend.
- Please treat all individuals with respect and dignity, regardless of the team they support or whether you agree or disagree with their words or actions.
- Please exercise your fan support in a positive manner. Do not use vulgarity or language that demeans players, coaches, officials, team representatives, or other spectators.
- Do not throw objects on the field or make attempts to leave stands and enter the field area. Individuals who violate these rules will be immediately ejected from the stadium and can face Student Conduct action and/or legal action.
- Fighting and other acts of physical violence – both in the stadium and around campus – will result in Student Conduct action, including possible suspension or expulsion from Ithaca College.
- There will be significant traffic pattern changes and limited parking on campus. I also remind our students not to operate a motor vehicle or ride in a vehicle operated by somebody who is under the influence of alcohol and/or other drugs.
- Please be mindful of comments, photos, and videos you may post to social media before, during, and after the game. Your online profile can have a powerful impact and follow you during your time at Ithaca College and beyond.
- If you live off campus, please be respectful of your South Hill neighbors. Avoid hosting large gatherings that create excessive noise or hosting groups that damage your neighbor's property.
