The New York Film and Television Student Alliance (NYFTSA) launched in 2014 in collaboration with the New York State Governor's Office of Motion Picture and Television Development to connect industry professionals and learning experiences with college students pursuing a career in the film or television industry. Chrissy Guest, Associate Professor at Ithaca College, worked with the Governor's Office to launch the organization and the first chapter at the Roy H. Park School of Communications. Now, with chapters stretching across New York State and collaborations with nearly a dozen film and television organizations, NYFTSA continues its mission to help educate and build futures for New York media students (pursuing a career in the television, film, or related industries) by connecting them to industry professionals and other students around the state.
