The Student Board Member position is a one-year, volunteer appointment. Students who are selected to serve on the Conduct Review Board will take turns sitting on hearing boards with faculty and staff board members, hearing cases of alleged academic and non-academic misconduct. The Board will determine if a student should be found responsible for the charge(s) they allegedly violated, and if found responsible, impose sanctions that range from written warning to removal from the College.
Qualifications:
- Student board members should be in good academic standing with the College at the time the appointment would take effect.
- Student board members should be in good standing with the Office of Student Conduct and Community Standards.
- Student board members must be willing to participate in a half day training prior to serving on the Board.
Board members will be notified when hearings are to take place, and will participate based on their availability, typically serving 1-3 times per semester. Conduct Review Boards on average last one (1) to three (3) hours. Occasionally, Boards will exceed that timeframe depending on the type of violation, the number of individuals involved, and other variables that may occur.
