Announcing the Appointment of the Vice President for Enrollment Management

By News, January 2, 2024

Dear Campus Community:

I am pleased to announce that following a nationwide search, I have named Rakin “Rock” Hall to serve as our next Vice President for Enrollment Management. Currently the Vice President for Enrollment Management at Arcadia University, Rock will help us meet the vital enrollment needs that are central to the college’s ongoing institutional priorities.

Rakin "Rock" Hall

Rock has a breadth and depth of experience specializing in enrollment management and student success, working within teams at four universities in addition to Arcadia: The University of Utah, University of Southern California, William Paterson State University, and Humboldt State University.

At Arcadia, located in Glenside, Pennsylvania, his accomplishments have included increasing deposits by 24% and retention by 3%, and working with campus partners and university donors to establish a welcome center to provide a warm and engaging space for prospective students and their families.

At Ithaca College, he will be responsible for leading the teams in Undergraduate and Graduate Admission, Student Financial Services, Constituent Engagement Strategy, the Center for Career Exploration and Development, and the Center for Student Success and Retention.

We are excited that Rock will bring his 25 years of expertise and influence in the national enrollment sphere to his work at Ithaca College. He understands the landscape from coast to coast, and we can leverage his knowledge to attract prospective students from across the country to South Hill. In speaking with Rock and considering his candidacy, it became clear that he is a mindful leader who puts people at the center of every narrative and works to maximize outcomes for his colleagues and his institutions.

You can read more about Rock’s background in this news story.

I want to thank the search committee, led by co-chairs Claire Gleitman and Chris McNamara, for delivering an outstanding pool of candidates for my consideration in filling this key leadership position. I also want to thank Executive Director of Student Financial Services Shana Gore for her leadership in serving as interim associate vice president and Terry Cowdrey for serving in a consulting role for the fall semester.

I hope that you will join me in welcoming this dynamic leader, communicator, and ambassador for Ithaca College as he joins our South Hill community on February 1.

Sincerely,

La Jerne Terry Cornish
President
