The Center for LGBT Education, Outreach, and Services is proud to announce that Lee Tyson (they/them) has officially began their role as the center's second Pride Fellow earlier this week on Tuesday, January 16.

Lee returns to the Ithaca area after having spent the past year as a postdoctoral fellow in humanities leadership at Case Western Reserve University, located in Cleveland, Ohio.  Lee completed their Ph.D. in Musicology with a graduate minor in LGBT Studies at Cornell University in 2022. They also hold a B.A. in Music from the University of Nevada (Reno, NV) and a Masters in Musicology with a graduate certificate in Gender Studies from the University of Texas (Austin, TX).

Lee identifies as a Japanese American non-binary trans educator. They are an advocate interested in cultivating creative strategies for building accessible campus communities of belonging and mutual care. Lee is excited to return to Ithaca and looks forward to furthering this work at Ithaca College.

Outside of work, Lee enjoys reading graphic novels, enjoying downtown Ithaca, relaxing with their cat, Cheese, and chatting with folks from their hometown of Anchorage, Alaska.

As we get set to begin the Spring 2024 semester we invite you to stop by the LGBT Center to connect with Lee. They are thrilled to be a part of the IC community and hope that you’ll come by to chat about trans rights, queer media, and things to do around Ithaca!
