The 1950 Census and You

Looking to find information on your older relatives (grandparents or others). Who lived in your house or apartment in 1950? What did they do for work? How many kids did they have? Were they were born in the U.S. or were they immigrants?

Learn how to search the recently released 1950 Census records from the National Archives and Records Administration. Find out how to navigate Enumeration District maps and gather other background information to aid in your search by using the Ancestry Library Edition database.

This will be a hands-on session, so bring a laptop or check one out from the circulation department in the library. This session is aimed at history, sociology, writing majors among others but should be useful to anyone who has an interest in genealogy. Faculty, staff and students are invited to attend. Student Leadership Institute (SLI) credit will be given to students who sign up via IC Engage.

This session will take place on Thursday, February 1 at 12:10-1:00 in the Library in Gannett 319.
