In Fall 2023, the faculty and staff in the Center for Faculty Excellence (CFE) and the Center for Instructional Design & Educational Technology (CIE) formed a small working group to develop a course template in Canvas that will serve as the base for all academic advising courses in Canvas. The Academic Advising site builds consistency for students across the college, meeting the request of both students and faculty to have academic advising resources in one space and on a familiar platform.
During the Spring 2024 semester, we are running a pilot of the advising sites and seeking feedback before an official launch in Fall 2024.
What to expect next:
This week, advisors will see the new academic advising site appear in the “unpublished” section of the Canvas dashboard. Feedback will be collected in April/May when the team will review the feedback, adjust, and then deploy the official academic advising sites by the start of the Fall 2024 semester.
