FBI - The Cyber Threat Landscape - An Ed Tech Day Information Session

Federal Bureau of Investigation Special Agent David Hinsdale assigned to the cyber squad in the Albany Field Office will lead a discussion titled, "FBI - The Cyber Threat Landscape" at 10 AM on Thursday, March 21st in the Ithaca Falls room.

This presentation will discuss the ongoing cyber threat to critical infrastructure and national assets from an investigative point of view. It will share insight into the threat landscape, malicious cyber actors, and the resources and collaborative efforts used to combat them. Case studies related to high-tech crimes, cyber-attacks, computer intrusions, and major cyber fraud will be presented.

This session is among the 40+ scheduled presentations for the 30th Educational Technology Day at Ithaca College, taking place on Thursday, March 21st, from 9 am to 3 pm in the Campus Center. Notes on the Presenter:  

David Hinsdale currently serves as a Special Agent assigned to the cyber squad in the FBI Albany Field Office. He investigates computer intrusions from both the criminal investigative and national security perspective. His caseload touches a diverse range of threat actor activities to include initial access vendors, ransomware, business email compromise, cyberstalking, credit card skimming, identity theft, and cryptocurrency fraud. His investigative work also contributes to the cybersecurity community in the form of collection, analysis, and distribution of threat intelligence related to sophisticated cyber actors conducting long-term intrusion campaigns against domestic interests. He engages directly with victims for incident response and is an FBI-authorized digital evidence extraction technician. He has been a Certified Public Accountant for ten years with a specialization in the financial services sector of public accounting. He had the opportunity to participate in the FBI accelerated cyber training program where he earned multiple GIAC certifications and worked alongside industry professionals to gain practical knowledge in the developing cyber threat landscape.​
