Drug-Free Schools and Communities Act Report

By Elyse Nepa, March 21, 2024

Dear Campus Community:

I hope this message finds you well. As part of our ongoing commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy campus environment, Ithaca College adheres to the Drug-Free Schools and Communities Act. This federal legislation, enacted in 1989, requires educational institutions that receive federal funding to implement comprehensive drug and alcohol abuse prevention programs for their campus communities. It also requires the college to notify all members of the campus community on an annual basis about the various prevention programs, education programs, and resources that are available, as well as policies and laws related to alcohol and other drugs.

The Ithaca College Drug-Free Schools and Communities Act Report includes but is not limited to an overview of prevention education efforts, health risks associated with the use of alcohol and illicit drugs, standards of conduct, disciplinary sanctions, the Employee Assistance Program (EAP), the Drug-Free Workplace Act, and the Omnibus Transportation Employee Testing Act, and on-and off-campus resources available for those in need.

The Ithaca College Drug-Free Schools and Communities Act Report was developed in collaboration with the Office of Public Safety and Emergency Management, the Center for Health Promotion, the Office of Student Conduct and Community Standards, and the Alcohol and Other Drugs Committee.
