Last weekend, five students from the Department of Philosophy and Religion presented original research at undergraduate research conferences. Winifred Kanayo-Ezenwata, Newt Andia, Rachel Doherty, and Erin Baum went to the Lycoming Undergraduate Humanities Research Conference, while Joë Kwasnicki presented at the Rustgi South Asian Undergraduate Research Conference. All presentations were a smashing success.
At the Lycoming conference, Newt won the award for the best paper in the category of Philosophy, Ethics, & Religion for their paper "The Vulcan Buddha", which analyzes Buddhist themes in Star Trek. All four of the Lycoming attendees have been invited to submit their papers for publication in the Mid-Atlantic Humanities Review, an undergraduate research journal.
In a banner week for the department, four of philosophy and religion students also presented on campus at the Whalen Symposium, including Will Regalado Succop, Erin Baum, Rachel Doherty, and Libi Warmund. All four papers were solid and so well put together.
Congratulations to our presenters for your amazing work!
