Announcing Microsoft Copilot in Windows 11

Information Technology and Analytics is excited to announce that Microsoft Copilot in Windows is now available on all IC-managed devices running the latest version of Windows 11 as of May 1, 2024.

Microsoft Copilot (formerly called Bing Chat for Enterprise) is an AI-powered assistant for work that was enabled for all IC faculty and staff in September 2023 and is accessible through https://copilot.microsoft.com/ with your IC credentials. Microsoft Copilot in Windows is a feature that allows you to leverage Copilot right from the taskbar on a Windows 11 device by launching the Copilot button to the right of the Search box, or by pressing the Windows logo key + C for quick access.

Get Started with Microsoft Copilot

  • For IC-managed devices you will automatically see the Copilot button appear in the Windows taskbar to the right of the Search box.
  • Click the Copilot button to get started with an AI-powered chat.
  • If you are not already signed in, you will be prompted to sign in with your IC credentials.

Why Use Copilot?

Using Copilot is a great way to enhance your productivity and creativity! Here are some ways to interact with Copilot:

  • Answer questions
  • Summarize text
  • Analyze data
  • Brainstorming sessions
  • Draft communications
  • Create images or text

Data and Privacy

Your input into Copilot (as long as you are signed in to your IC account), is not used to train the underlying large language models, and Microsoft retains neither your input nor Copilot’s responses after your browser is closed, the chat topic is reset, or the session ends.
