Ben Hogben Retirement Celebration – June 17, 2024

By Stephanie Salcedo, June 13, 2024

The Ithaca College Community is invited to join the IC library staff in celebrating Ben’s retirement on Monday, June 17, from 1:00-4:00pm in the Klingenstein Lounge.

Ben officially retired on June 6, 2024, after 33 years of service at the College, with his longest tenure as the Access Services Manager in the IC Library. In 2005, Ben graduated from IC with a bachelor’s degree in gerontology. He taught gerontology at Tompkins Cortland Community College for 15 years and currently serves on the Board of Directors at Longview.

Ben gained wide respect on campus for his focus on developing user-centered services and continuous improvement, even during the challenging circumstances of the pandemic. Beyond IC, Ben has been a leader in the development of regional interlibrary loan services. A true servant leader, Ben successfully trained and coached a large cadre of student assistants and library staff members. He is also responsible for conceiving of and organizing the campus visits of the llama "Late for Breakfast" and her canine Cornell Companions to help students destress during the most challenging times.

Stop by to wish Ben farewell and enjoy a slice of cake and a beverage. If you're musically inclined, feel free to bring an instrument to play.
