IT changes to Streamline Mac Authentication Issues

Have you ever tried to enter your username and password on your Mac to make a change, only for it to reject it, even though you know the password is correct?

Starting July 30th, we at Information Technology and Analytics are excited to introduce AuthenticationChecker, a new tool designed to address this common scenario faced by Mac users. Last year, we rolled out the Privileges.app to help make our Macs more secure, and it's been a great success. AuthenticationChecker is the latest enhancement to further improve this system.

AuthenticationChecker runs automatically in the background and detects when a user enters the correct username and password on a Mac but lacks the necessary admin rights. When this happens, a pop-up appears with a helpful knowledge base article and a button to directly launch the Privileges.app to elevate your rights.

By putting the power in your hands, this tool helps you avoid unnecessary troubleshooting and gets you on the right path immediately.
