Members of the Ithaca College community are invited to attend a celebration of life for former longtime administrator David Dresser, who passed away on March 14. The service is scheduled for 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 10, at Ovid Federated Church, 7137 Main Street in Ovid. It will be followed by lunch in Fellowship Hall.
Dresser had a lengthy career in high education, serving in a variety of teaching and administrative capacities at Cornell University, Syracuse University, Eisenhower College, and RIT before joining Ithaca College in 1984. Over the next two decades at IC, his leadership roles included assistant dean of the School of Business, director of international programs, assistant/associate dean of the School of Heath Sciences and Human Performance, and coordinator of academic achievement and advising services.
He continued his public service following his retirement, serving as supervisor of the Town of Ovid. He was the author of “Eisenhower College: The Life and Death of a Living Memorial,” a history of the small liberal arts institution that operated from 1968 to 1983 in Seneca Falls.
In 2006, Dresser was honored by the Ithaca College Alumni Association with the James J. Whalen Meritorious Service Award, which recognizes non-alumni for their distinguished contributions to Ithaca College through their professional, civic, or philanthropic activities.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Judy, to whom his devotion was incomparable.
