What Is Discrimination?

Reporting Discrimination

Discrimination occurs when individuals or groups are treated unfairly based on a protected class, such as age, disability, marital status, national origin, race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or military status. Discrimination is harmful to our entire community and can lead to feelings of isolation, anxiety, and self-doubt impacting our goal to create a successful learning and working environment. At Ithaca College we are committed to preventing discrimination through education in and outside of the classroom, aligning our policies and procedures to comply with state and federal laws prohibiting discrimination, and having support in place for affected individuals.

Ithaca College has resources available for individuals’ experiencing discrimination. To learn about those resources, visit www.ithaca.edu/diversity.

As members of the Ithaca College community, we have the power to create positive change. Continue to help us build a culture that promotes equity, inclusion, and belonging.

  • If you experience or witness discrimination based on gender or sex, make a report to the Title IX Office.
  • If you experience or witness discrimination based on any other protected class, use this form to notify appropriate offices for their response.
