Join the Women's Mentoring Network for our first event of the academic year!  We will be gathering for networking, an oatmeal bar, and an interactive talk on conflict management on Tuesday, September 10th at 8:30am-10:30am in Klingenstein Lounge.  You are encouraged, but not required, to RSVP here for the event.  Read more about the talk, including the presenter bio, below.

The Women's Mentoring Network (WMN) is open to faculty and staff and has a three-prong framework including group events, mentoring circles, and individual (1:1) mentoring. The WMN vision statement is uplifting women to empower their success.

The Missing Link in Leadership Development: Conflict Management (9am-10am)

Join us for an interactive talk about something that feels taboo, yet is part of everyday life: conflict! Conflict shows up in every aspect of our work and personal life because it’s a natural part of the human experience. Women have been socialized to be people-pleasers, or avoid rocking the boat, but that can hold us back in our leadership. It also can leave us feeling burned out and unsettled. Join Sierra DeSalvia for a conversation on how leaning into conflict (with the help of her tips and tools) can unlock so much more for you in leadership and life.

Presenter Bio: Sierra DeSalvia is a conflict management expert who races toward conflict with a fiery curiosity and a drive to de-escalate and steer the parties involved toward solutions. She has successfully navigated over 600 conflict situations and trained hundreds of leaders across the country to do the same. With over 10 years of experience as a conflict resolution practitioner, Sierra is ranked among the top mediators in the Northeast. She is skilled in leadership development and previously served as the Northern California Program Director for Emerge California, an organization that has trained over 800 women leaders to run for office. She has coached administrators, educators, students, elected officials, CEOs, nonprofit directors, tech founders, community leaders, police, and attorneys. She’s led town hall conversations on campuses and community-wide dialogues on charged topics. A training enthusiast, Sierra holds over 15 certifications, providing her with expertise in areas such as mediation, dialogue facilitation, consensus building, negotiation, human-centered design, and leadership development. Sierra leads workshops for teams and organizations as well as offers one-on-one coaching. Her signature offering is her virtual leadership program: The Conflict Solution, where leaders have their own learning platform plus live group coaching to transform obstacles to opportunities and face conflict with confidence so they can lead through anything (without burnout, people pleasing, or more cliche professional development training). Sierra is passionate about showing leaders how to transform the power of conflict into progress.
