Please join us for the following:
Workshop 1: Streamlining Quiz Creation in Canvas using Item Banks & GetMarked
Whether you use Canvas to deliver short quizzes or full exams, this session is designed to introduce you to the benefits of using Item Banks in Canvas “New Quizzes.” Item Banks allow you to create an organized set of questions that you may easily reuse for multiple quizzes and assessments. Item banks also allow you to create varied exams by doing random draws. Inputting questions into item banks one by one can be slow and tedious. GetMarked is an online tool Ithaca College has only for the 24-25 school year. You may use a word document or PDF with questions and generate a file that can be easily imported into Canvas.
Format: Online (Zoom)
Duration: 30 minutes
Facilitator: Marilyn Dispensa, Senior Instructional Designer
Workshop 2: Demystifying the Canvas Gradebook
Using Canvas Assignments and Grades effectively saves you time and improves student access to feedback and grades. Canvas uses Assignments to designate graded items that appear in the Gradebook. Those items can be organized into Assignment groups and also be used to calculate the course letter grade in Canvas according to the schema designated in the syllabus. Both individual grades and course grades can be released to the student. The objectives of this workshop:
- Organize Assignments with Assignment Groups
- Learn how to organize the Canvas Gradebook and grading schema to match what is in your syllabus.
- Identify strategies for determining the participation grade.
- Use Canvas to generate the Course letter grade and release to students.
Format: In-person (Job 103)
Duration: 50 minutes
Facilitator: Tristan Ross, Instructional Designer - Emerging Technologies
Please RSVP at the CIE Events Page to secure your spot in upcoming workshops!
We look forward to seeing you there!
