Participate in a Mental Health Screening on October 15

By Jennifer King MacKenzie, October 5, 2024

Help promote mental wellness on campus by participating in a mental health screening day on Tuesday, October 15th from 8:30 a.m. through 12:30 p.m. in Emerson Suites. During this time, the Mental Health Flock in partnership with the Department of Health Science and Public Health and Physician Assistant Studies within the School of HSHP will be offering access to a free, anonymous online mental health assessment. This screening is available to all IC students, faculty, and staff, regardless of insurance provider.

The assessment has 36 questions and takes about five minutes to complete. It screens for a variety of common psychological concerns, including depression, generalized anxiety, social anxiety, frustration/anger, eating concerns, alcohol use concerns, family distress, and academic distress. Results are displayed as low distress (green); moderate distress (yellow); and significant distress (red). Participants will be able to build their own self-care kits.

Please remember that a screen is not the same as a diagnosis. However, if you are concerned about your results after taking the assessment, mental health professionals will be on hand in Emerson Suites to talk with you and provide recommendations for seeking help.
