As we enter the fall and winter months, Ithaca College encourages members of the campus community to choose to be vaccinated. Receiving a flu shot is an important way to not only protect yourself from serious illness because of the influenza (flu) virus, but also to help protect the collective health of our campus community.
On Tuesday, October 15th from 8:30 a.m. through 12:30 p.m. in Emerson Suites, Ithaca College will be holding our annual Point of Dispensing (POD) for faculty, staff, and students to receive a flu vaccination, while supplies last. Reserve your flu shot by registering for a time slot today.
During this event, all supervisors are encouraged to support faculty and staff participation. Please note that you will need to provide your health insurance card to register.
Protect Yourself and Others by Getting Your Flu Shot on October 15
Did you know that you can spread the flu before you even know you are sick?
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends yearly flu vaccinations for everyone age 6 months or older. Annual flu vaccination is especially recommended for college students due to the highly contagious nature of the flu and the close proximity within which students live and study.
Getting vaccinated can also help protect those around you, especially those who are more vulnerable to serious influenza illness, such as older people, young children, and those with certain chronic health conditions.
Reserve Your Flu Shot Time Today
Participants should plan their apparel appropriately to receive a shot in the upper arm. Students, faculty, and staff enrolled in an IC-sponsored health insurance plan through Aetna receive full coverage for flu shots administered at this event. Campus community members who are not covered under an IC-sponsored health insurance plan through Aetna are encouraged to check with their insurance provider for more information. Although annual flu shots are typically fully covered by most health insurance plans, individuals are encouraged to confirm coverage with their provider prior to booking an appointment to avoid any unforeseen fees.
