Athletic Training Professor and Students Engage with South Hill Elementary Students on STEAM Night

By Anita Ching, October 16, 2024

On Thursday, October 10th, Jennifer McKeon (Associate Professor and Director of the Athletic Training Program in the Department of Exercise Science and Athletic Training) and pre-Athletic Training students, Sam Lewis, Sophia Tindell, and Chelsie Friedland, participated at South Hill Elementary STEAM night about the Athletic Training profession.

They showcased how athletic trainers use Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Math to help people heal from sports injuries and stay active by using Anatomy, Physiology, and Biomechanics.

Students from K-5 grades had the opportunity to test their balance, experiment with crutches, and try out other skills used in the athletic training profession.

It was a great opportunity for parents, caregivers, and students to see what our Athletic Training students are learning at IC!
