Opening tonight at Handwerker Gallery

Opening Wednesday at the Handwerker Gallery: Julianne Hunter and Robert Hickerson

The Handwerker Gallery is pleased to premiere two new solo shows: Robert Hickerson: 10:51 and Julianne Hunter: Where Things Grow. Both shows will open tonight October 23rd and will remain on view through December 9th, 2024.

We will host an opening reception for campus and community tonight Wednesday, October 23rd from 5 – 6:30 p.m. Both Artists will offer public artist talks, with Julianne Hunter speaking in the Gallery on Wednesday November 13that 5:30 p.m. and Robert Hickerson speaking in the Gallery on Monday November 18that 5:30 p.m.

Robert Hickerson is a Brooklyn based artist whose work examines how one makes sense of the American Dream through macabre imagery based in photography, video, performance, and installation.

Julianne Hunter is an artist and educator, working primarily in printmaking, sculpture, and papermaking. Her material-focused practice is concerned with bringing out the innate properties of her media in ways that simultaneously elevate and ground the work in natural, collective, and emotional planes.
