Are you passionate about music that inspires, uplifts, and connects people across cultures? The Dorothy Cotton Jubilee Singers, a community-based choral ensemble, is welcoming new members! This unique group specializes in the performance practices of Negro Spirituals and African American sacred music, celebrating the richness and resilience of these powerful musical traditions.

Open to all students, faculty, and staff, the ensemble performs several concerts each semester, sharing music that reflects and honors diverse communities. Through this course, you’ll explore the depth and breadth of African American sacred music, gaining a deeper understanding of its historical and cultural significance.

Details:

  • Rehearsals: Wednesdays, 7-9 p.m., on the Ithaca College campus
  • No auditions required – All are welcome!
  • Enrollment: Students register for Course 10303 (CRN: 41539); faculty and staff do not need to register for the class
  • Credit: (F, S)
