ICC Exception Requests

Are you a student whose curriculum requirements fall under an Ithaca College Catalog prior to Fall 2022 and are enrolled under an ICC Theme of Identities (TIDE), Inquiry, Imagination, and Innovation (TIII, Triple I), Mind, Body, Spirit (TMBS), Power and Justice (TPJ), The Quest for a Sustainable Future (TQSF), or A World of Systems (TWOS)?

When a student takes a perspective outside of their chosen theme, they can request that course be granted a theme exception.  In some cases, a theme change is more appropriate. Please contact the ICC if you are unsure which option is best for you.

In some cases, students complete a course while it was under review to receive an ICC designation. In rare cases, students can request and receive "retroactive designation" for the course. Only courses that received designation after a student completed the course are eligible for review. A syllabus is required from the term the student completed the course for a retroactive designation request.

If you are a student who has one of the above-mentioned themes and would like to request an exception for a course you completed outside of your theme, please complete the ICC Designation Exception Request form.

The Office of the ICC does NOT apply designations to courses. Petitions for designation are submitted by the home department of a course and undergo a curricular review before receiving an ICC designation.
