Resources & Support for Completing Reports

Dear Faculty,

As we tackle the second half of the semester, please remember that your annual department assessment reports are due December 1st. From the Apps menu, you'll want to click on the Watermark tile for PSS/Planning and Self-Study. Here are the steps for a complete report. We know that not every program will have all of these completed but please include a summary of where you are on this list and a plan for moving forward.

  • SLOs for every major/stand-alone minor (and if majors share SLOs, please indicate which ones are shared)

  • A Curriculum Map that ideally indicates in which courses the SLOs are Introduced, Reinforced, Mastered and Assessed

  • The Measures for how the SLOs are being assessed (Assignment, Project, Exam, Performance, etc.)

  • Your Target Goal (for example, "By the end of this course, our department expects 80% of students will reach a 3 on this 1-4 rubric.")

  • The Scoring Guides or Rubrics you're using to assess SLOs

  • Then, a summary of the Results of the assessment

  • An Analysis of the results, reflecting on how to use and apply this information

  • Finally, the Action(s) you're now looking to take based on the analysis

If you're unfamiliar with Watermark or unsure how best to use it, please take the time to explore this page which includes links to helpful video tutorials and see the updated APC-A page for additional guidance.

And if you find yourself hopelessly stuck and in need of a troubleshooter, please don't hesitate to reach out to your School Assessment Committee or Mai An Rumney (mrumney@ithaca.edu). As Academic Affairs Assessment and Accreditation Manager, she can help you on your way.

Thanks again for your hard work and commitment to our students!

With best regards,

The APC-Assessment Sub-Committee
