Join Ithaca Pride Alliance, Ithaca College, and Cornell University to commemorate Transgender Day of Remembrance, an annual observance that honors the transgender and nonbinary individuals lost in the last year to antitransgender violence. This event brings community across Ithaca together to mourn the dead and fight for and honor the living. There will be a stone-casting ceremony to call out names of those we have lost, music and/or spoken word performances, and words shared by community leaders.

Date: Wednesday, November 20th

Time: 7- 9 PM

Location: TCPL Borg Warner Room

We need your help making this community event happen. There are roles for those who enjoy public speaking as well as those who prefer to operate behind the scenes.

The roles for which we need support are:

  • Name Readers- during the vigil, read from a supplied list of names of those we have lost in the past year (**please note, name readers must attend a dress rehearsal on Monday 11/18**)
  • Set up- 3-4 pm, move furniture in the Borg Warner Room
  • Greeters- 6-7 pm, greet guests and direct them to the Borg Warner Room
  • Usher- 7-8:30, during ceremony, direct latecomers to seats, connect those in need with CAPS resources
  • Reception set up- 8:15 (during the vigil) set up refreshments at the back of the Borg Warner Room
  • Break down- 9-10 pm, move furniture in the Borg Warner Room back to it's original location, clean up the reception
