Waitlist does not take a break: What you need to know!

Waitlist does not take a break, not even for holidays.

Waitlist provides an opportunity for students to 'wait in line' for a seat to open in a course if a course is at capacity. A seat will become available if another student drops their seat. (There is no override form for a class that is full.)

From your profile page in HomerConnect, make sure you have Spring 2025 selected in the upper left corner, and review your schedule for courses that have a Registration Status of Waitlist.

Waitlist does not take a break! Even on weekends and holidays! Please be sure to check you IC email at least once a day to check for a waitlist notification. If you do not register within your 24- hour window you will be dropped from the class and the seat will be offered to the next student on the list.

What to do if you receive a waitlist notification

  • From the time you receive an email notifying you a seat is open you have 24 hours to add the seat. (The 24-hour clock includes evenings, weekends and holidays so please keep checking your email).
  • Go into your registration and click the drop down and change it from “waitlist” to “web registered/registered”
  • Click submit.
  • You will know you are registered for the class if the status says “registered”
  • Have a backup plan, a seat may not open, and the last day of add/drop is Sunday, January 28, 2025 at 11:59 pm
  • Ensure all holds are resolved on your account, if you have a hold, you will not be able to register, and your seat will not be saved.

Getting an Error?

If you are waitlisted for a course and you get a waitlist notification that a spot has opened and you try to register for it, but you are getting an error message, make sure that you see what the error message means.

You can check out our Understanding Registration Error Messages guide for more information regarding error messages. Depending on the error message, you may have to request a course registration override via the form on IC workflow.
