Beware texts asking you to enter Duo codes

By Jason Youngers, November 19, 2024

If someone asks you to enter a 3-digit code into your Duo app, it's a phishing attack.

They may say they're from the Service Desk, but they're not. Never enter a Duo code sent to you by someone else and never send a Duo code to someone else. Doing so will let them into your account.

Also, beware of phishing emails linking to forms asking for personal information, such as your name, phone number, personal email address, password, or bank information. Common scams are fake job offers and warnings that your account will be deleted. Please do not provide personal information on random forms sent by random email addresses, whether they seem to be from someone at IC or not. And never type your password into an online form. There is no legitimate reason anyone will ever ask you for it.

If you're ever unsure if something is legitimate or you have any questions, please reach out to the Information Technology Service Desk for assistance.
