National Council on Undergraduate Research (NCUR) Information

By Brendan Murday, December 2, 2024

As part of Ithaca College’s commitment to undergraduate research, scholarship, and creative activity, support will be provided for up to 5 student scholars to present at the National Council on Undergraduate Research (NCUR) to be held April 7-9, 2025 in Pittsburgh, PA. Bus fare from Ithaca to Pittsburgh, hotel accommodations, and registration for the conference will be paid by the College. A $300 refundable deposit may be requested for all selected participants.

Who can apply? Any undergraduate student in any program can apply to present their work. Virtually every discipline is represented at NCUR. Students can also present work that is created in an interdisciplinary posture. Please note that the College will only sponsor one student from each research team to participate in the conference. Creative activity, such as musical or theatrical performance, or other work in the fine arts, is also welcome.

To receive support from Ithaca College, students must be in good standing, have a 3.0 or higher GPA, and have a good judicial record. The College cannot provide support for presentation at NCUR to students who have received significant support for other conference presentations in AY 2024-25.

Students who think they’d like to present at NCUR should talk with their faculty mentors.

How does one apply? Students apply for NCUR by submitting an abstract that describes their work through the NCUR website. Submission instructions are given here:

https://ncur.secure-platform.com/2025/page/abstract-guidelines

Completed papers are not submitted for review. At the time the abstract is submitted the student must supply the name of a faculty member who mentored the submitted work, indicate the name of the discipline that best represents their work, and say whether they wish to present at a poster session or on an oral presentation panel. When asked for Coordinator Information, please use Brendan Murday as the coordinator.

The deadline for submitting abstracts is December 6, 2024.
