What is death? What, if anything, lies beyond it? This winter course investigates how religious traditions from around the world come to terms with death and imagine various possibilities for transcending it. Topics include the Tibetan Book of the Dead, the Epic of Gilgamesh, green burials, and digital afterlives. Students are invited to explore their relationship with mortality in view of other traditions’ perspectives.
