The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly in the Workplace – A Winter Course

By John Vongas, December 27, 2024

Earn 4 Credits this Winter with a Course Relevant to Your Career

“The people make the place” is what we are told about every workplace. In this asynchronous online winter course titled Organizational Behavior and Ethics, we will look at both the bright and dark sides of human nature at work. Topics will include leadership, motivation, personality, ethics, power and politics, and groups, among others.

Students will be asked to reflect how they approach work life both as individuals and team players, and how they can impact (and be impacted) by the organizations they will one day join or help create.

I look forward to seeing you in the course! Contact me anytime at jvongas@ithaca.edu.

Miles Davis Quartet, 1959.

This is the legendary Miles Davis Quartet in 1959. Many organizations operate like jazz quartets. They are made up of motivated people having different personalities that come together to make something happen; these people also improvise along the way. This course promises to give students a framework allowing them to analyze behavior – their own and others’ – that cannot be made solely through intuition.
