Updated Hours for Campus Resources Available During 2024-25 Winter Break

Ithaca College Community,

Ithaca College will have some alterations to the typical hours, services, and resources available for individuals remaining on campus during the Winter Break. As a reminder, the college will be fully closed Saturday, December 21, through Sunday, January 5 . Please keep reading for more information on several key campus support areas that will have altered availability over the coming days.

Please note that the list below is not comprehensive and may not list every area with altered hours of operation or limited resources during the break period. For more information on a particular service or office that is not listed, please visit their website and/or contact that office directly.

Ithaca College Dining Services

Ithaca College Dining Services will be fully closed for the entirety of the college closure from Saturday, December 21, through Sunday, January 5.

Modified dining service will resume on Monday, January 6, with limited retail locations and dining hall service offered out of the Campus Center. Ithaca College Dining Services will incrementally open up additional retail locations and dining halls in the lead up to the Spring 2025 semester.

Please note that the Ithaca College meal plan for the Spring 2025 semester officially opens on Monday, January 13.

Ithaca College Food Pantry (Prunty’s Pantry)

The Ithaca College Food Pantry (Prunty’s Pantry) will continue to be open during the Winter Break, including during the college closure from December 21 – January 5. Please see the hours of operation during the period the college is officially closed below:

  • Monday, December 23: 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
  • Thursday, December 26 : 3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
  • Monday, December 30 : 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
  • Friday, January 3 : 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.

To access the food pantry during the college closure, patrons must utilize the external entrance as the Campus Center will be closed during this period. The external entrance is located on the south side of the building adjacent to the stairs that go from the lower level of the campus center up to the main academic quad. Only the Pantry will be open - the rest of the building will continue to be inaccessible during the dates listed above.

Prunty’s Pantry will resume its full hours of operation beginning on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, with the following hours of operation:

  • Tuesdays from 12:15 until 2:00 pm
  • Wednesdays from 4:00 until 6:00 pm
  • Thursdays from 12:15 until 2:00 pm
  • Fridays from 4:00 until 6:00 pm

In an effort to make sure patrons of the pantry can stock up with enough items to sustain themselves through the break period, the pantry is suspending its one-bag limit on items during the college closure. Please note that supplies may be somewhat limited as we will not be receiving new food during this time; but pantry staples will continue to be available.

Office of Public Safety and Emergency Management

The Office of Public Safety and Emergency Management is open 24 hours a day year round. If you are experiencing an emergency or need immediate support, please contact Public Safety at (607) 274-3333.

Health Center

Student Health Services at the Hammond Health Center will be closed to all in-person appointments during the entirety of Winter Break from Saturday, December 21, through Monday, January 20. Administrative staff will be available during normal business hours (8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.) to respond to any non-clinical questions. The Health Center can be reached by email at IChealth@cayugahealth.org or by phone at (607) 274-3177.

In addition to weekends during the Winter Break period, the Health Center will be fully closed on December 25, January 1, and January 20. The Health Center will have modified hours of operation from 8:00 a.m. – noon on December 24 and December 31.

Students remaining on campus for the break that are in need of clinical care should seek off-campus options. Please note that the college will not be offering its Medicar service during this period. If you are experiencing a medical emergency, please refer to the Emergencies and After Hours Care page for additional support.

Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS)

The Center for Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) will be closed in conjunction with the college’s Winter Break closure from Saturday, December 21, through Sunday, January 5. Normal business hours will resume on Monday, January 6. Please note that CAPS is not licensed to host virtual appointments with any student that is not located within the borders of New York State at the time of the appointment.

During the college closure, individuals are always able to utilize the CAPS After-Hours On-Call Service, which is available 24-hours a day, 365 days a year. To reach this service, please dial (607) 274-3136 and follow the prompts. This service is available to all individuals regardless of where they may be located. Students remaining on campus that are experiencing a life-threatening emergency should contact the Office of Public Safety at (607) 274-3333 for immediate assistance.

Campus Center

The Campus Center will have modified hours of operation extending throughout the Winter Break from Friday, December 20, through Monday, January 20. Please see the hours of operation below:

Friday, December 20: 7:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Saturday, December 21 – Sunday, January 5: Closed (Food Pantry will remain open during designated hours, access available external door on South Side of the building)

Monday, January 6 – Sunday, January 12: 7:00 a.m. – 7:30 p.m.

Monday, January 13 – Monday, January 20: 7:0 a.m. – 8:30 p.m.

Regular hours of operation for the Campus Center from 7:00 a.m. – midnight will resume on Tuesday, January 21.

Fitness Center

The Fitness Center will be closed from Wednesday, December 18, through Sunday, January 12. The Fitness Center will resume limited operations from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. during the college’s normal business hours during the week of Monday, January 13, to Friday, January 17. The Fitness Center will be closed for the final weekend of the Winter Break, which includes the Martin Luther King Jr. college holiday on Monday, January 21.

Normal academic year hours of operation for the Fitness Center will resume on Tuesday, January 21.

Library

The Ithaca College Library will have modified hours during the Winter Break, which includes being fully closed during the college closure from Saturday, December 21, through Sunday, January 5. The Library will reopen for limited hours of operation during the week of January 6 – 10, open Monday-Friday from 7:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. during the remainder of the Winter Break.

Normal hours of operation for the Library will resume on Tuesday, January 21.

Office of Residential Life

All individuals remaining on campus for a portion or the entirety of the Winter Break must have completed and have an approved Winter Break Registration Form to notify the Office of Residential Life know of your intention to stay in campus housing during the break period. Deadline to register was 5:00 p.m. on December 13.

All residence halls, except for Eastman, Tallcott and Terrace 6, are closed during Winter break and offer break housing options after the college reopens in January. During Winter break, if you live in a closed residence hall you must vacate your room for the duration of the break. Residence Halls reopen for students, living in the same room as their fall room, on Wednesday, January 1, 2025 at 1:00pm. Circle and Garden Apartments remain open during Winter break. For the 2024-25 academic year, Eastman, Tallcott, and Terrace 6 are offering break housing over the entire Winter Break.

Please note that limited services are available during break-housing periods. There will be a reduced number of Residential Life staff present on campus to handle lock-outs and emergencies. Please refer to the duty schedule on the entrance doors to each building for information about the Resident Assistant (RA) covering your area of campus.

Other Student Affairs and Campus Life Departments

Several departments in the Division of Student Affairs and Campus Life may have slight changes to their hours of operation or typical services during the Winter Break. These include, but may not be limited to: Office of New Student and Transition Programs, BIPOC Unity Center, Student Accessibility Services, Center for LGBT Education, Outreach and Services, Office of Religious and Spiritual Life, Office of ICare and Student Support, and the Office of Student Engagement. Please note that all these offices will be closed Saturday, December 21, through Sunday, January 5, in conjunction with the college closure.

Contact these offices directly if you have any questions about availability during the Winter Break. Departments will endeavor to respond as soon as possible.
