On February 6, more than 60 Ithaca College student-athletes were honored at the fourth annual scholar-athlete luncheon in Emerson Suites. Hosted by the athletics department and the Office of the Provost, the event celebrated junior and senior student-athletes who had a cumulative GPA of 3.75 or higher.
President Shirley M. Collado was in attendance at the event, as were the deans and the academic advisors of the student-athletes.
Barb Belyea, a faculty athletic representative and a clinical professor and associate chair in the Department of Physical Therapy, expressed how important this event was to the student-athletes.
“Achieving this level of academic achievement speaks to the student-athletes’ passion and perseverance,” she said, “and we are so proud of their accomplishments.”
Peyton Greco ’20, a member of the women’s golf team, served as the event’s keynote speaker. A Liberty League All-Academic selection throughout her career, she also serves as the co-president the athletic department's Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC).
“This event has become one of my favorite Ithaca Athletics traditions and a terrific opportunity to reflect on the remarkable accomplishments of our student-athletes,” said Associate Director of Athletics Will Rothermel. “These scholar-athletes embody what it means to be a Bomber, and they are an outstanding representation of Ithaca College.”
