The 31st annual Educational Technology Day will take place at Ithaca College on Thursday, March 20. The event provides an opportunity to explore the latest advancements in educational technology and their impact on teaching, learning, and the higher education community. Free and open to the public, it will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Campus Center.
What to Expect at Ed Tech Day
Vendor Technology Showcase: Engage with over 60 national and regional hardware and software vendors, including industry leaders such as Dell, Salesforce, Pathify, and Adobe.
Seminars and Demonstrations: Participate in interactive sessions covering topics such as artificial intelligence, data security, esports in higher education, and data analytics. The Finger Lakes Faculty Development Network will also have numerous seminars on assorted topics of teaching and learning in the classroom.
College Showcase: Discover how Ithaca College faculty and staff are integrating technology into their teaching and learning environments.

Deeper Dive
More than 40 scheduled presentations will feature national experts providing deep dives on some of the issues and interests most relevant to education today. Sessions will include:
- “Esports in Education: Taking the Classroom Beyond Gaming,” with Joey Gawrysiak (Syracuse University) and Alex Estabrook (Ithaca College) discussing how esports provide students with transferable skills, career pathways, and real-world opportunities in a rapidly growing industry.
- “Learning Analytics: The Fraught Journey from ‘Data Exhaust’ to Actionable Intelligence (the other AI),” with Stanford University Senior Director of Evaluation and Research Andrew Saltarelli exploring the myths and challenges in harnessing “big data” for education.
- “Beyond ChatGPT: AI, Society, and the Future of Higher Education,” with Emily Laird, an AI Integration Technologist at the University of Wisconsin-Stout and host of the podcast Generative AI 101 discussing how colleges can ensure that education shapes the use of artificial intelligence in ways that are ethical, inclusive, and forward-thinking.
- “Bridging the Gap: Practical Security Insights for Daily Operations,” by Paul Robinson, founder and managing director of the cybersecurity firm Tempus Network, breaking down common scams targeting schools and providing simple, practical ways to spot red flags, avoid scams, and protect both institutional and personal information.
Throughout the day, there will be tours of Ithaca College facilities such as the Makerspace, Esports Lounge, Movement Analysis and Anatomage Labs, and Performance-Based Physics Lab.
