Allison Marie Frisch is an assistant professor of journalism at Ithaca College’s Roy H. Park School of Communications. She was a 2019 Cronkite School of Journalism Innovation Fellow at Arizona State University.
An award-winning communications professional, Frisch worked for 15 years in the journalism, digital innovation and business fields. Frisch worked at newspapers in the Finger Lakes region of New York and in York, Pennsylvania. She worked as a reporter, photojournalist, digital journalist, managing editor, regional editor and executive editor. She won numerous Associated Press Awards for feature writing, investigative reporting and digital innovation in storytelling.
In 2015, she received her MBA from Rochester Institute of Technology and pivoted from local news to teaching and research. She has been featured/academic speaker and source for New York Press Association, International Society of Weekly Newspaper Editors, Rochester Institute of Technology's Women's Leadership Summit 2022 and The Wrap, a Los Angeles-based digital news organization covering the business of entertainment and media.

Frisch specializes in teaching and researching local news sustainability, news deserts, local news innovation and college and news industry collaborations.
