While tickets for the 2019 Cortaca Jug football game at MetLife Stadium will go on sale to the general public beginning this Saturday, Dec. 1, tickets for Ithaca College students, staff, and faculty will be available for purchase early next fall. Those tickets will be priced at $15 each, and—unlike previous Cortaca Jug games—there will be no limit on the number of tickets an individual can buy.
Ithaca College and SUNY Cortland announced earlier this month that the annual rivalry game between the two schools will be held next year at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. IC is serving as host for the 2019 game, which will take place on Saturday, Nov. 16, with a 1 p.m. kickoff time.
Beginning Dec. 1, tickets priced at $15, $25 and $35 can be purchased through Ticketmaster at CortacaJug.com. Members of the campus community who wish to finalize their purchase sooner or buy higher-priced seating are welcome to use this outlet. Otherwise, details regarding the on-campus ticket sales will be announced early next fall.
Located just eight miles outside of New York City, MetLife Stadium serves as home to the NFL’s New York Giants and New York Jets. The collective goal of Ithaca College and SUNY Cortland is to break the current record of 37,355 fans in attendance at a Division III football game.
The contest will take place there at the invitation of the New York City Chapter of the National Football Foundation (NFF) in celebration of the 150th anniversary of college football. Founded in 1947, the NFF is a nonprofit educational organization that runs programs designed to use the power of amateur football in developing scholarship, citizenship and athletic achievement in young people. Four Ithaca College graduates serve on the New York City chapter’s board of directors.
Next year will mark the 61st time that the Bombers and Red Dragons have squared off for the Cortaca Jug. IC leads the series 36–24, winning the most recent game, held in Cortland on Nov. 10, 24–21.
