Ithaca College will hold its traditional Commencement Eve Concert on Saturday, May 20, in Glazer Arena of the Athletics and Events Center. A fireworks display will follow the 8:30 p.m. performance.
The public is invited to enjoy a special preview of the concert on Friday, May 19. Serving as a dress rehearsal for the following night’s show, the hourlong program will also begin at 8:30 p.m. and admission is free.
The theme of this year’s concert is “A Celebration of Memories and Momentum.” It will be directed by Mike Titlebaum, director of Jazz Studies and associate professor of music performance in the School of Music, Theatre, and Dance.
The concert will feature the Ithaca College Wind Ensemble, Choir, Jazz Ensemble, and Trombone Troupe as well as student vocal and instrumental soloists, performing works by composers ranging from Percy Grainger and Reena Esmail to Duke Ellington and Cyndi Lauper. Students from the Partnering in Dance course will swing to the Jazz Ensemble performing the jazz standard Rose Room and timeless popular tune Ain’t She Sweet.
Ithaca College’s 128th Commencement ceremony will take place on Sunday, May 21, beginning at 10 a.m. inside Glazer Arena.
