The most legendary ship of all time sets sail on its tragic voyage April 2-9 as Ithaca College Theatre presents Titanic: The Musical . With music and lyrics by Maury Yeston and book by Peter Stone, Titanic went on to win multiple Tony Awards after premiering on Broadway in April 1997—a full eight months before the well-known film of the same name.
Titanic offers a heart-wrenching portrait of hopeful passengers aboard their “ship of dreams”—some of whom were among the most rich and famous in the world and others who wished to start a new life in America. Featuring a sweeping score to match its infamous source material, the show captures the magnitude of the tragedy that shocked the world.
The creative team is led by director and choreographer Courtney Young Socher, associate professor of theatre and dance performance, and music director Ryan Sigurdson, assistant professor of theatre and dance performance.
Following the matinee performance on April 5, a post-show discussion was held moderated by production dramaturg Devyn Young-Pak.
