The Ithaca College Board of Trustees elected five new members at its May meetings. Each brings a wealth of experience and top-notch leadership in their respective fields as well as a long commitment to the IC community. The new trustees will each serve for an initial four-year term.
Meet IC’s New Trustees
Nancy Daniels ’94, P ’25
Nancy Daniels is an accomplished senior leader in the media and entertainment industry, with deep experience overseeing content, channels, and brands. Most recently, she was the Chief of Content for the “TNets,” and Chief Brand Officer, Discovery and Factual, where she oversaw all creative and brand strategy, development, production, multiplatform, communications, marketing and day-to-day operations for Discovery, Animal Planet, and Science Channels. At IC, she has been involved with the Corner Office Conversation Host Committee and the President’s Roundtable. Daniels has also supported several West Coast alumni events. She is the parent of a current student in the Roy H. Park School of Communications.
Michael DeVito ’86
With more than three decades of leadership experience in the mortgage and financial services industry, Michael DeVito is Chief Executive Officer of Freddie Mac, overseeing all aspects of the company, which makes home possible for families across the nation. He is also a member of the company's Board of Directors. Previously, DeVito spent more than 23 years at Wells Fargo. As a student at IC, DeVito served as president of his Senior Class. In 2018, he and his wife Joyce established the DeVito Family Scholarship for future leaders at IC. In 2022, he visited IC to teach a fixed-income class and to speak with business students about career development.
Rev. Dr. Carlos Perkins ’99
Rev. Dr. Carlos Perkins is an assistant research scientist and Associate Director of Engagement in the Lilly Family School of Philanthropy at Indiana University. He plays a lead role in developing partnerships across a diverse range of faith-based organizations and networks, with experience and expertise in working within BIPOC communities. He is the Senior Pastor of Bethel Cathedral African Methodist Episcopal Church – Indianapolis. Previously, Perkins served as a school principal outside of Indianapolis and has served in educational and ministerial leadership roles in the U.S. Virgin Islands as well as in the Washington, D.C., and Baltimore areas. At IC, he works with ICUnity and has served on a variety of alumni boards. He was awarded the 2022 Humanitarian Alumni Award.
Paula M. Rooney P ’17
Dr. Paula M. Rooney served as the 13th president of Dean College from 1995 until her retirement in May of 2022. Guided by her visionary leadership, Dean College achieved exceptional growth during her 27-year tenure, experiencing unprecedented success in numerous areas, including academics, enrollment, financial stability, and the overall reputation of the Dean College brand. She is the parent of a 2017 graduate of the Roy H. Park School of Communications, and her family is a longtime supporter of the college.
Monica Bertino Wooden ’81
A co-founder and the retired Chief Executive Officer of MercuryGate International, Monica Bertino Wooden is a pioneer in the field of supply chain logistics software. She spent the early part of her career at IBM. A generous gift from Wooden will fund improvements to Butterfield Stadium, greatly expanding its use with the installation of lights and artificial turf. The new playing surface will be named Bertino Field at Butterfield Stadium in her honor. An outstanding student-athlete, she played softball and basketball while earning her degree in physical education.
