Welcome to week five of the spring 2021 term. While we in the Office of the Registrar are disappointed to not be in person with those of you on campus this semester, we are thankful that our ability to offer remote services allows more students, faculty and staff providing essential in-person services to be on a de-densified campus. Ithaca College is our community, whether we are fully remote, hybrid or in-person, and we in the Office of the Registrar are determined to provide excellence in service despite COVID-19. As a team, we are looking forward to planning what is next now that term is underway.
COVID-19 requires that we all re-think our use of space and how we gather on campus, particularly because of the need to physically distance. In working with our campus partners, we have made new, open spaces available for students to take classes, study and eat. The below spaces are available for use, in addition to lobbies and atriums in academic buildings. Here are some COVID-19 guidelines to be aware of when using these spaces:
- Adhere to posted capacity within the room. If the room is at capacity, please find another space.
- Leave tables, chairs or other furniture where they have been placed. Maintain 6 feet of physical distance.
- Wear a face covering that covers your nose and mouth, unless you are eating. Face coverings may be removed temporarily while eating but must be replaced once finished.
- Disinfect spaces and equipment/materials before and after use.
- Use hand sanitizer stations or the restroom sinks to practice good hand hygiene.

This is an ideal point in the semester to evaluate if you are meeting your academic goals, whether you are in-person or remote for academics. If your internal voice is saying, “maybe not” or “I could use some help” here are some excellent resources:
Attending your professor’s virtual office hours, scheduling a virtual appointment with your faculty advisor, or contacting the resources within your school are also positive steps to take:
There is ample time to find resources and double down to ensure you earn the midterm grades you aspire to even given the challenges of COVID-19. Midterm grades will be posted by March 24 at 10:00 p.m. If you’re thinking “I want some new ways to get involved” or “I am looking for an academic challenge” please check out these opportunities:
Connect with academic resources for help planning as well; it is never too soon. Fall 2021 registration will begin April 13, all details can be found on the Office of the Registrar course registration website page. On our homepage you can access the link for our live chat feature, as well as multiple ways to contact us.
While the Office of the Registrar’s doors may not be physically open, we are still able to provide services including processing mail, transcripts, verification letters, certifications for New York and other states, and mail degrees, as well as meet the needs of our students, alumni, future students, faculty and staff. Please contact us at registrar@ithaca.edu. We are responsive and happy to assist you.
Sincerely,
Vikki Levine, Registrar
