The Out of the Closet and Onto the Screen series at Ithaca College will present “The Most Dangerous Year,” a documentary that explores the transgender civil rights battle in all its richness and complexity. Free and open to the public, the screening will be held at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 4, in Textor 103.
In 2016, a small group of families with transgender kids fought a wave of discriminatory “bathroom bills” and other anti-transgender legislation sweeping the nation. With civil rights activists and ally lawmakers, they embarked on an uncharted journey for their children’s lives and futures in this present-day civil rights story. “The Most Dangerous Year” is a moving representation of these loving, proud families who chose to stand up for the humane treatment of their children.
The Out of the Closet and Onto the Screen series is sponsored by the Ithaca College Center for LGBT Education, Outreach, and Services. For more information, visit www.ithaca.edu/lgbt.
