This year's banquet will be called "Liberated Beauty” with the theme, ‘Black is beautiful,’ A salute to black power.
It is a time to celebrate our dedication to embracing the black and brown diversity on our Ithaca campus and showcase an individual's meaning of ‘Liberated Beauty!’
The African-Latino Society (ALS) of Ithaca College is in its 49th year of service to the ALANA: African, Latinx, Asian, and Native American, college communities on campus!
Here is some background on ALS:
The African-Latino Society is here to promote the political, social, economic, and cultural welfare of ALANA students in the Ithaca College community. ALS will foster collaborative conversations and relationships with staff, faculty, alums and students of Ithaca College, Cornell University, and the greater Ithaca community.
The three main objectives of ALS are:
● To educate and empower members
● To strengthen the ALANA community through programs and
policies
● To nurture, encourage, and provide academic support and a cultural outlet for general body members and its future leaders
