Youth Farm Project (Special Project) (FULL)

The Office of Student Engagement and the Youth Farm Project will be collaborating on the Service Saturdays program through the Fall of 2019. Students will have the option of volunteering with YFP during the September, October, and November Service Saturdays. This serves as an opportunity to learn more closely about the food justice efforts of this organization in Tompkins County.

The mission of YFP is to "empower youth from diverse social and economic backgrounds as integral participants in building equitable local food communities." In addition, "YFP is dedicated to healing our food system through an anti-racist organizing lens by bringing together youth from diverse backgrounds to explore environmental and social injustice within the food system." Students will have an opportunity to assist YFP with a variety of outdoor gardening activities.

Time: 9:30am - 1pm

Coddington Community Center

This is a small community center located just beyond Ithaca College's campus. They provide our surrounding community with a day care services and a place to have community events. Students will help with a variety of indoor and outdoor projects to help spruce up the center! IC is a big part of CCC's fall trails and cleanup day.

Students will help with grooming trails and cleaning up around the center before things turn cold!

Time: 10am - 2pm

Brooktondale Community Center (FULL)

With a history spanning more than six decades, the BCC is situated in the hamlet of Brooktondale, NY, near Cornell University and Ithaca College in the heart of New York’s Finger Lakes region. It serves as a vibrant social center to residents of the hamlet as well as the surrounding Town of Caroline, hosting many volunteer-led social, recreational, educational, and charitable activities.

Students will help BCC with their annual pie preparation event before their community Apple Festival in late October. This is a MAJOR fundraiser for BCC, and they cannot make it happen without the support of Ithaca College students!

Time: 10am - 2pm

Habitat for Humanity of Cortland and Tompkins County (CANCELLED)

The overall mission of Habitat for Humanity (H4H) is "a world where everyone has a decent place to live." Our local Habitat for Humanity states that, "together with our communities, Habitat for Humanity of Tompkins and Cortland Counties puts faith and love into action by building homes and hope." Students will assist with a variety of building-related projects at Habitat for Humanity.
