From Secretary to CEO, Jan Singer has built a career advocating for consumers and empowering teams to deliver results across the Apparel, Lingerie, Beauty, and Sport categories. She believes in finding the highest potential in people & brands and bringing diverse perspectives together to create innovative outcomes.
Singer was appointed the Chief Executive Officer of J.Crew Group and elected to the Board of Directors of the Company in February 2020. J.Crew Group is an internationally recognized omnichannel retailer of women's, men's, and children's apparel, shoes, and accessories including both the J.Crew and J.Crew Factory brands. During her time at the company, Singer lead the development of J.Crew’s path forward, including navigating the pandemic, resetting the financials through a restructuring process, and creating the vision for the future of these iconic, American brand and business.
Prior to joining J.Crew, Singer was the Chief Executive Officer for Victoria’s Secret Lingerie, the world’s most recognized intimate apparel company, from 2016 to 2018. As CEO, Singer was responsible for the more than $4 billion lingerie business, which included Victoria Sport.
Previously, Singer was the Chief Executive Officer of Spanx, Inc., a lifestyle brand offering hosiery, intimate apparel, active life and swim.
Singer joined Spanx from Nike, Inc., where she held a series of senior leadership roles for more than 10 years, including Corporate Vice President of Global Apparel and Corporate Vice President of Global Footwear. While at Nike, Singer managed multi-billion-dollar product engines that created industry-defining products for men’s, women’s and kid’s sport performance and sportswear products, serving elite and everyday athletes.
Over her career, Singer has served as the Vice President/General Manager of Women’s at Reebok and held executive roles in the luxury goods sector, such as Vice President of Marketing and Communication for Prada Beauty, Vice President of Global Communications for Calvin Klein Cosmetics, and Public Relations Manager for CHANEL Beauté. Singer also served as the Beauty and Fitness Editorial Director for YM Magazine and was a freelance beauty and fitness writer for various publications, including Elle and Self.
From 2015 to 2017 Singer also served as an independent board director of Kate Spade & Company.
In 2018, Singer was named a National Outstanding Mother honoree, an award honoring her contributions and influence as a mother, businesswoman, philanthropist, and mentor. She was also the 2018 recipient of the Beta Gamma Sigma Business Achievement award, recognizing her significant accomplishments in business, leadership, and service.
Singer is an active supporter of the Central Ohio community through her involvement with United Way, Pelotonia and The James Cancer Hospital.
